Holidays

I am running on my skis,

White and silver are the trees.

I am skating on bright ice –

Winter holidays are nice.

Look! We have a snowman,

He is tall and fat.

He has a carrot in his nose

He has a funny hat.

December is the best of all,

Snow-flakes dance, snow-flakes fall.

People see the New Year in,

When December ends, it will begin.

This is the season

When children ski

And Father Frost brings

The bright New Year Tree.

It is winter, it is cold.

But he is always full of joy,

And glad to give me a nice toy.

It is December the thirty-first.

Something is about to burst.

The thirty-first of December is the day

When we have a great holiday.

The New Year usually comes at midnight

And brings us presents

So sweet and bright.

We have a fir-tree in the hall.

It is so beautiful and tall!

Around it we dance and play

Because it is a New Year Day!

A New Year Greeting just for you

Warm and most sincere:

To wish you every happiness

Throughout the coming year!

New Year's Resolutions

I promise to be very good, very good.

I promise to do the things I should.

I promise to make my bed each day.

I promise to put my things away.

I promise not to throw my socks on the floor.

I promise to put my socks in the drawer.

I promise to do my homework right.

I promise not to stay up late at night.

I promise to listen to my mom and dad.

I promise not to do anything bad.

New Year

New things to learn,

New friends to meet,

New songs to sing,

New books to read.

New things to see,

New things to hear,

New things to do

In this glad New Year.

I want to give you lots of love

And want to say right here:

Have a happy New Year Day

And then a happy year!

We wish you Merry Christmas!

We wish you Merry Christmas!

We wish you Merry Christmas!

We wish you Merry Christmas!

And a happy New Year!

Good tidings to you

Whenever you are!

Good tidings for Christmas!

And a happy New Year!

It's Christmas!

It's Christmas! Merry Christmas!
Yes, it's merry, merry Christmas,
It's time for hanging stockings,
It's time for riding sleighs,
It's time for jolly greeting,
Snow and holly, overeating,
Oh, I love you merry Christmas,
You're the best of holidays

The snow-man

Snow-man, snow-man, oh, so white,

What do you do in the dark of night?

Don’t you want to run and play

Just as I do during the day?

All day long you stand so still

There in the field near the hill.

With dark brown eyes and laughing face

Don’t you want to change your place?

Thanksgiving

Turkey in the Straw

Oh, I was a'goin' down a dusty road,
With a team of horses and a great big load;
It was, oh, such a warm and lazy afternoon,
So I cracked my whip and started sing-in' a tune.

Dancin' tonight, dancin' tonight,
Dancin' to-night, dancin' tonight,
Happiest people you ever saw
Will be dancin' together
To the Turkey in the Straw!

Halloween

Five little pumpkins

Five little pumpkins sitting on a gate.
The first one said, "My, it's getting late!"
The second one said, "There are witches in the air!"
The third one said, "Good folk, beware!"
The fourth one said, "We'll run and run!"
The fifth one said, "Let's have some fun!"
"WOOOOOOOH", went the wind,
And OUT went the light;
And the five little pumpkins rolled out of sight!

Treat (by Jack Prelutsky)

Trick or treat, trick or treat,
Give us something good to eat.
Give us candy, give us cake,
Give us something sweet to take.
Give us cookies, fruit and gum,
Hurry up and give us some.
You had better do it quick
Or we'll surely play a trick.
Trick or treat, trick or treat,
Give us something good to eat.

It's Halloween (by Jack Prelutsky)

It's Halloween! It's Halloween!
The moon is full and bright
And we shall see what can't be seen
On any other night:
Skeletons and ghosts and ghouls,
Grinning goblins fighting duels,
Werewolves rising from their tombs,
Witches on their magic brooms.
In masks and gouns we haunt the street
And knock on doors for trick or treat.
Tonight we are the king and queen,
For oh tonight it's Halloween!

The Fourth of July

Yankee Doodle

Yankee Doodle came to town,
A-ridin' on a pony;
He stuck a feather in his hat
And called it macaroni.

Yankee Doodle keep it up,
Yankee Doodle Dandy;
Mind the music and the steps
And with the girls be handy.
Father and I went down to camp,
Along with Cap'n Goodwin;
The men and boys all stood around
As thick as hasty puddin'.
Yankee Doodle keep it up,
Yankee Doodle Dandy;
Mind the music and the steps
And with the girls be handy.

Father's Day

Rain, Rain, Go Away

Rain, rain, go away,
Come again, another day.
Rain, rain, go to Spain,
Never come here again.

The First of May

The sun is so bright today,

Because it is the First of May.

The sky is so blue today,

Because it is the First of May.

And we are now so gay,

Because it is the first of May.

The first day of May

Is a jolly good day!

The first day of May

Is a Working Class Day!

Mother’s Day

Each bright flower

Is here to say

My wish to you:

«Happy Mother’s Day!»

Mother's Day

Today is Mother's Day

Today is Mother's Day.
Let's help Mama.
I'll make breakfast.
You make lunch.
I'll do the dishes.
You do the shopping.
Let's help Mama.
It's Mother's Day.

Today is Mother's Day.
Let's help Mama.
I'll sweep the bedrooms.
You make the beds.
I'll clean the kitchen.
You do the laundry.
Let's help Mama.
It's Mother's Day

Mother’s Day Basket

Make a basket for your mother,

And fill it with flowers gay,

Then put a card just to say:

«Happy Mother’s Day!»

Easter

Here Comes Peter Cottontail

Here comes Peter Cottontail,
Hoppin' down the bunny trail,
Hippity, hoppity, Easter's on its way.
Bringin' every girl and boy
Baskets full of Easter joy,
Things to make your Easter bright and gay.
He's got jelly beans for Tommy,
Colored eggs for sister Sue,
There's an orchid for your Mommy
And an Easter bonnet, too.
Oh! here comes Peter Cottontail,
Hoppin' down the bunny trail,
Hippity hoppity, Happy Easter day.
Here comes Peter Cottontail,
Hoppin' down the bunny trail,
Look at him stop, and listen to him say:
"Try to do the things you should."
Maybe if you're extra good,
He'll roll lots of Easter eggs your way.
You'll wake up on Easter morning
And you'll know that he was there
When you find those choc'late bunnies
That he's hiding ev'rywhere.
Oh! here comes Peter Cottontail,
Hoppin' down the bunny trail,
Hippity hoppity, Happy Easter day.

Happy St. Patrick's day

That's An Irish Lullaby

Over in Killarney, many years ago,
My Mother sang a song to me in tones so sweet and low.
Just a simple little ditty, in her good old Irish way.
And I'd give the world if she could sing that song to me this day.
Too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ral, Too-ra-loo-ra-li.
Too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ral, Hush now don't you cry!
Too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ral, Too-ra-loo-ra-li.
Too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ral, That's an Irish lullaby.

Hail Glorious St. Patrick

Hail, Glorious St Patrick,
Dear Saint of our Isle.
On us thy poor children
Bestow a sweet smile.
And now thou art high
In thy mansion above,
On Erin's green valleys
Look down with thy Love.
On Erin's green valleys,
On Erin's green valleys,
On Erin's green valleys
Look down with thy Love.

Happy Valentine's Day

Funny Valentines

Boys are silly.
Girls are smart.
I love you
With all my heart.

Boys are noisy.
Girls are, too.
You like me,
And I like you.

Mama loves coffee.
Papa loves tea.
I love my teacher,
And my teacher loves me!

The birds won't sing,
The stars won't shine,
If you won't be
My valentine.

It's Valentine's Day (by Jack Prelutsky)

It's Valentine's Day. And in the street
There's freezing rain, and slush, and sleet.
The wind is fierce. The skies are gray.
I don't think I'll go out today.
But here inside the weather's warm.
There is no trace of wind or storm.
And you just made the morning shine.
You said you'd be my Valentine.

A Valentine for my teacher (by Jack Prelutsky)

My teacher's very special,
So I'm making her a heart.
A Valentine that's sure to be
A proper work of art.
I've worked on it all morning,
So it should be ready soon.
I'd like to slip it on her desk
Before this afternoon.
It's colored in with crayons,
And it's trimmed with paper lace
It has flowers hearts, and Cupids.
I can't wait to see her face.

Birthdays

Happy Birthday to you!
Happy Birthday to you!
Happy Birthday, dear Peter!
Happy Birthday to you!

Birthdays (Ogden Nash)

My birthdays take so long to start,
They come along a year apart.
It's worse than waiting for a bus;
I fear I used to fret and fuss,
But now, when by impatience vexed,
Between one birthday and the next,
I think of all that I have seen
That keeps on happening in between.
The songs I've heard, the things I've done,
Make my un-birthdays not so un-.

Birthdays (Ogden Nash)

Everything's been different
All the day long,
Lovely things have happened,
Nothing has gone wrong.
Nobody has scolded me,
Everyone has smiled.
Isn't it delicious
To be a birthday child?
